New Wrinkle Treatment Available at Aesthetic Center

Dysport was recently approved by the FDA for the cosmetic treatment of moderate to severe glabellar lines in the forehead and it is now available at the Aesthetic Center. Dysport is made from the same active ingredient, clostridium botulinum toxin type A, as Botox and is only the second drug to be approved by the FDA as a wrinkle treatment

According to Mark Crawford, MD, facial cosmetic specialist and Medical Director of the Aesthetic Center, Dysport has been safely used in other countries for over a decade and has undergone vigorous clinical testing in the United States in studies involving nearly 3000 patients and over 80 clinical sites.

"Dysport has been proven to be very successful at treating moderate to severe vertical lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows," explains Dr. Crawford. "Whenever you laugh, frown, concentrate or squint into the sun, your facial muscles contract and the skin in your brow creases. And as you get older, your skin loses its elasticity and those creases deepen into lines that may remain even when you aren't frowning. The lines between your eyes can become particularly noticeable at a relatively young age, making you look older, angry or tired, even when youÕre not. This area is also more difficult to treat effectively, so we are pleased to have a new option to offer our clients."

Dysport works by immobilizing the muscles you use to frown, smoothing out the lines and restoring a more youthful, less-stressed expression. Dr. Crawford says treatment with Dysport takes just a few minutes and results become apparent within a few days. Studies show that the effect can last up to five months.
